Our Commitment to Net Zero
Brightwells Ltd has achieved Scope 1 & 2 Net Zero Carbon Emissions through subscriptions to the Woodland Trusts Certified Carbon Capture scheme, offsetting all operational carbon emissions since Jan 2020 (direct and energy indirect).
We are also committed to reducing emissions generated across our workplaces and through our daily operations guided by our ISO accredited policies and procedures that promote sustainable and environmentally friendly working practices.
Brightwells is committed to achieving Net Zero GHG emissions by 2050.
This Carbon Reduction Plan is subject to annual review and updating.

Our Emission Reduction Targets
In order to continually reduce our emissions year on year, we have adopted the following carbon reduction initiatives -
- Reduce Carbon emissions by 20% by 2030
- Reduce Carbon emissions by 50% by 2040
- 100% Carbon reduction by 2050
Carbon Reduction Projects
- During 2022 and 2023 – reduce electricity and LPH consumption at Easters Court offices through redeployment and organisation.
- LED lighting to replace fluorescent and filament bulbs.
- Reduce Carbon emissions associated with electricity consumption by 25% from baseline figure by 2030.
- Energy efficient heating systems to be installed and thermostats monitored.
- Video conferencing utilised to reduce business travel.
- Reduce electricity consumption further where possible by replacing element heaters with thermostat-controlled panel heaters.
- Introduce further electric / hybrid Company vehicles
- Procure 100% renewable electricity by 2030, which will reduce our carbon emissions by 60%.
- Employee training – employees to receive routine training to reduce Carbon emissions such as ‘Power of One’ and other actions/activities.
- 2025 onwards – review the use of diesel forklifts on site. Currently, there are no suitable electric or hydrogen vehicles available.
- Continue to subscribe to the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture Scheme or implement any other projects, where applicable or available to offset (direct and indirect 1 & 2 emissions).
- Scope 3 emissions have increased due to an increase in volume of business. Transport Managers are reviewing methods to reduce emissions.
- Our environmental management system is audited by a UKAS approved 3rd Party to ISO 14001. This promotes the continual improvement of our environmental processes, objectives and aspects that have the most significant environmental impact both in the short and long term.
- Brightwells Transport Managers to collate transport requirements, utilise backloads and encourage the use of Euro 6 emissions standard vehicles.
- Work with suppliers to encourage them to set their own carbon reductions targets and net zero by 2040.
Our Declaration
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
This Carbon Reduction Plan will be subject to annual review and updating.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans, PPN 06/21 and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[1] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[2].
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with PPN 06/21, SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans, the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[3] and PPN 06/21.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
