1979 YHY132V LAND ROVER SERIES III Petrol
Good
looking example; usable, on the road and ready to go; money spent and original
where it counts; petrol engine
They
do say you can always tell a Land Rover enthusiast, but you can’t tell him much!
In case you, dear reader, are not a knowledgeable Land Rover enthusiast we will
start by stating that YHY 132V is a 1979 petrol-engined 88’ wheelbase Series
III.
It
is a fine-looking example (and you can’t say that about them all) and has had a
lot of work done to it in recent years. It is not totally original but any
deviation from standard has been done with a view to making it an even more
practical classic. We are told that it is “original where it counts” which will
be a comfort to the knowledgeable enthusiast.
It
is smart inside and out and has an MOT to June 2020 (admittedly with four
advisory notices, but all of a very minor nature). The speedo gives no secrets
away with its 7,229 recorded miles – perhaps not for the first time, perhaps
being new or reconditioned.
At
the time of cataloguing we were not able to find out the history associated with
this Land Rover but that will be no deterrent to the enthusiast for whom the
impressive appearance will be as attractive as the quoted estimate.
Since arrival onsite however, we can reveal that it has been fitted with
new trim - correct and very smart, is shiny, extremely solid in the chassis
department as well as the all important bulkhead - in fact they all look barely
two years old. If you are looking for a reliable, tax exempt, MOT exempt, cheap
to insure classic that will do the school run as well as the trip to the tip or
office in bad weather - this is the obvious choice and is on offer for a
fraction of what it must have cost to get into this condition.
