1996 P518CVP ROVER
114 GTa
Unusual Rover hot-hatch; just 39,000 miles
from new; well cared-for; parking sensors; something a bit different and great
fun to drive
Dating from August 1996 this MY96.5 face-lift model was
part of the Metro replacement, known as the R6 and badged 100 series. It
featured new bumpers, sills, boot handle, lights, bonnet and grill over its
predecessor. As a 114GTa, this little gem was Rover’s zestier offering and
as such, packed the K-Series 1.4 four-pot, a rev-counter, sports seats, sports
suspension and GSi alloy wheels giving it quicker acceleration and a higher top
speed over its stablemates. It was only available as a three-door.
Showing just 39,000 miles this sweet little GTa has had
just four owners from new and looks to be in good order, with many models
suffering the ravages of body corrosion, where-as this looks to be
clean.
The car features remote locking, a sunroof and parking sensors
with in car digital display. The car is said to deliver a surprising turn
of speed and huge smiles per mile and is certainly a rare little beast with few
left registered and on the road.
The history file includes the owner’s pack and service
book showing it was first registered to a Mr C Marshall of Birmingham by dealer
R. H Collier of Tyseley, Birmingham and includes two stamps, both by the
supplying dealer dating from 1996 and 1997 at 6,182 miles and 12,300
respectively. The file also includes the V5C, current MOT running until May 2021
showing two minor advisories for sill covers fitted, 14 old MOTs confirming its
low mileage and a selection of maintenance and parts invoices dating back to May
1997 plus original warranty certificate. One for the Rover fan and not to be
missed!
