1966 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Fintail
SOLD
£7,924
This impressive 220SE Fintail dates from 1966 and
comes to us from a private collector. He acquired the car a year or so back, the
car having come from the film set of the Netflix production 'The Angel' - a '60s
drama about the Middle East set in London.
It was first UK registered on 25th
February 1966 so was delivered new to this country - it must have been a very
expensive car in those days. Originally painted white, it has had a colour
change to black - quite possibly for its film debut not long ago.
There is
precious little in the way of information about its history, although it does
appear to have had new sills in recent times and was last MOTd in 2016 which
showed no advisories. The car appears remarkably rust-free - not someone one can
often say with a '60s Mercedes that has lived its life in the UK and is
perfectly presentable as is.
The light blue MB Tex upholstery is in good
order with the notable exception of one small tear on the passenger seat and it
would take little to get this car back into excellent order.
The vendor had
briefly attempted to start the car, but didn't persist so has not had it
running. The engine is free to turn and all the ancilliaries are present and
correct and the brakes appear to stop the car.
Sadly that is about all we can
say about it, which is a shame as clearly someone has spent a lot of time and
money on it in the past. It comes with two old MOTs, a scrap of script from the
film and a couple of invoices boing back to 2013/15 but no V5C so its new owner
will need to apply for a replacement in the usual way.
