2003 Bentley Arnage T
SOLD
£12,320
The
Arnage T, introduced in 2002 featured a comprehensively re-engineered version of
the big V8 including a new Bosch engine management system and twin turbos which
raised the output to 459bhp and 645lb/ft – sufficient grunt to crack 60mph in
5.5 seconds and touch 170mph flat out. This made it the fastest road-going
Bentley ever.
This
fine two owner Arnage T dates from April 2003 and was supplied new by Jack
Barclay Ltd of London to its rather well known first owner, singer-songwriter,
musician, record producer, director, conductor and former Deputy Chairman of the
British Phonographic Industry Mike Batt best known for creating The Wombles
musical act, writing “Bright Eyes” and discovering Katie Melua.
Mike
Batt owned the vehicle for some 14 years, the car having been maintained by Jack
Barclay and Phantom Motors since new with 15 service stamps to warrant its
113,000 miles. The car has clearly had funds lavished on it, which shows – the
car looks in excellent order throughout. Notable maintenance includes
replacement of the engine’s head gaskets in August 2012 by Phantom Motors at an
eye-watering £9,539. The last major service was in October 2016 at 108,000 miles
also by Phantom Motors including replacement A/C condenser and new tyres costing
£6,559. The vendor is currently attempting to locate these two invoices.
This
T is finished in stunning Phantom black with full Mulliner quilted black
hide throughout and comes equipped with the usual high levels of luxurious
internal appointments including electric heated memory seats, electric rear
seats, sunroof, sat nav, rear entertainment with twin screens, embossed seats,
twin umbrellas in the boot, Bluetooth Parrot, Sport mode, cruise control – the
list goes on. The car sits on attractive split-rim alloy wheels and very much
looks the part, whether at home in the Cotswolds or outside Claridges.
It
comes with a fresh test with no advisiores which expires in May 2021, the only
slight 'fly in the ointment' being a top-end tapping from the engine when hot.
The vendor's local Bentley dealer seemed to think it was 'in tolerance' but
we feel that it will need attention sooner than later.
Motoring
does not get any more imperious than this and the lucky new owner will feel like
a millionaire every time they slip behind the wheel.
