1992 Mercedes 300TE (W124) Estate
SOLD
£1,176
Classicly proportioned 'proper' Mercedes powered by a
188bhp 3.0 straight-six, 4-speed auto and seating for 7 if needed, much recent
expenditure.
Supplied new by Caffyns Mercedes-Benz of Salisbury in
March 1992, this smart, Nautic blue 188bhp 300TE was originally ordered with
dual zone climate with A/C, electric driver's seat, burr walnut trim, electric
sunroof, four electric windows, electric passenger mirror, head light wash/wipe,
self-levelling rear suspension and four speed automatic transmission as well as
the desirable 7 seat option, with additional fold flat seating for two in the
boot.
The car has had just five owners, the current, our vendor, a marque
enthusiast has lavished over £1,500 on it during his three year tenure
originally buying it to help with a house move utilising its capacious boot.
Recent expenditure includes £994 spent on a rear silencer, discs, pads,
dizzy cap, battery, MOT and a major service upon purchase in July 2017, a
further £171 on a wheel bearing in October 2017 followed by a new alternator in
April 2018 and more recently another £173 on other bits and pieces in November
2019.
The previous owner had the car some 17 years having it
serviced exclusively by Mercedes Benz Bath during this time until 2008 after
which it was serviced by a respected indepentant garage in Bradford on Avon,
Wiltshire. This lady owner lavished money on the car, the invoices running
into thousands with over 50+ invoices for her tenure alone on file.
Notable maintenance during this time includes repairs to the rear subframe
in November 2012 at 191,098 miles, new pneumatic engine mounts in September
2008, and a rebuilt cylinder head by MB of Bath including new valve stem seals
in October 2007 at 147,000 miles at a cost of £1,328.
The service book
(plus one continuation booklet) includes the PDI stamp plus a futher 33 stamps,
26 by Mercedes Benz plus an additional six for brake fluid and coolant also by
MB and the rest by the same independant garage bar one, another MB
independant. Furthermore, the history file includes 22 old MOTs dating
back to Augist 1994 at which time the car had covered 19,739 miles, the first
aid kit, owners manuals, and 2 keys plus alarm keys.
This impressive
car was driven some 100 miles to the sale by the vendor and comes with a current
MOT until late July 2020 with just three minor advisories. We understand
the central locking can be tempramental but that's understandable for
a 28 year old car thats covered an impressive 199,800 miles. It looks to be in
nice usable order with scope for another 100,000 miles at least. Affordable
retro classic motoring with space and grace - we love the W124 series Mercs
here.
