1971 Volvo 164
SOLD
£952
Supplied new in June of 1971 this rare 164 features the
B30 series six-cylinder engine displacing some 3.0 litres with Zenith Stromberg
175CD2SE constant-depression carburettors. Finished in red with black
leatherette the car represents a sound basis for light cosmetic restoration.
We understand she starts, runs and drives forward via its
3-speed Borg warner column change automatic transmission although we gather
reverse is often not as successful. The interior looks to be complete but
requires some re-fitting and potentially some refurbishment too.
Even when stationary it looks to be doing 70mph…we don’t
jest, the speedo is stuck at 70, hinting of those heady days gone by.
The boot contains a box of useful spares, while the
history file includes the V5C and a Haynes manual only which could be quite
useful! There is no MOT or history of any MOT since 2006 at least according to
the online VOSA records although it is exempt now anyhow.
A rare thing, oozing potential, its an
early model carburettor car with column mounted auto shift built just
prior to the switch over to fuel injection and floor mounted change. Grab it
while you can for some boxy fun at No Reserve.
