Midget chassis and 1500cc running gear with fibreglass Frogeye Sprite bodywork; 5-speed 'box, lowered suspension. Lightweight fun!

Originally a late model MkIV Midget 1500 dating from July 1979 this fun little peach came into our vendor’s hands in 2004 as a mechanically sound, but scruffy Midget. Coincidentally, he had been offered a fibreglass rear end for a Frogeye and ideas began to evolve… The car became what we see here over the following 5 years with new, lowered suspension, period seats and Minilite wheels fitted. Following this, a Ford 5-speed MkVII gearbox was fitted giving greater all-round usability and flexibility to cruise. It has no hood, but the bits come with the car although there is a panoramic hard top for poor weather or storage outside. The history file goes back to 1997, including fitment of a new engine which has covered only c.5,000 miles. The V5 is en-route back to the vendor after re-registering the car as historic with DVLA and therefore tax and MOT exempt. Post office proof is enclosed and the V5 will be posted on to us as soon as its received. There is also a valid MOT until 14th October 2020.

Representing a huge amount of lightweight fun, it would no doubt surprise many out there with its excellent power to weight ratio and looks something of a bargain compared to a ‘real’ Sprite.
