Description
2000 Mercedes-Benz CL600 (C215)
Very rare 5.8
V12 pillarless coupe; 19" AMG alloy wheels; just 34,423 miles and one family
owner from new
Purchased new in January 2001 at a cost of some
£104,000 this was a serious car for a serious buyer. It has remained in the same
family since new. The car was originally registered in the family company
name until 2003 then MD/father until earlier this year when it passed to the son
who has enjoyed it through the summer.
One family owner and just 34,423
miles - find another CL600 with history and provenance like this. The car
has evidently been cossetted over the last 20 years and still looks like it
could be a year old: the brilliant silver paintwork gleams, the 19inch AMG
alloys give it real presence and the pillarless design adds to its stylish good
looks. The soft Nappa leather and suede headlining look very comfortable
and inviting indeed.
As the then-top-of-the-range model, it was
fitted with what looks like almost every extra available including
double-glazing, soft-close doors and boot, cylinder shut-down (permitting 30mpg
on a cruise!) electric heated memory seats with massage/pulse and adjustable
lumbar options, walnut trim, Comand navigation and infotainment centre,
electrically operated up/down rear headrests. parking sensors, cruise
control, automatic Xenon lights, sunroof, dual zone automatic climate control,
electric rear blind, ABC (height and firmness) adjustable air suspension
for a magic carpet ride, stability and traction control, acres of hand stitched
leather, headlamp wash, auto dimming rar view mirror and multi-function steering
wheel.
Under the bonnet we find the whisper quiet 5.8 litre V12 engine
which pumps out 362bhp and a colossal 520NM of torque driven through the 5-speed
automatic/tiptronic gearbox with winter and sport modes.
A rare car when
compared to its 5.0 sibling with just 6,348 built compared to some 32,224
produced of the CL500, the 5.8 naturally aspirated V12 was only available for a
few years before being replaced by the 5.5 twin turbocharged V12 version, an
altogether different animal.
The history file includes current V5C for
its original registration X337 CAW, old V5Cs showing its previous private
plates, owner's pack and service book with 7 stamps and a further 6
hand-written entries for annual servicing (most recently in September 2020
including gearbox oil change) along with service invoices and 14 old MOTs back
to 2003 plus current MOT until November 2021 with no advisories
recorded.
One for the V12 Mercedes collector indeed.
Please note,
the private plate shown is not included and the registration has
returned to X337 CAW.
