Description
1972 Ford Mustang Fastback
Rare V8 manual with
front disc brakes; hard as nails muscle car for light recommissioning; canary
yellow body not going to get you missed
AMENDMENT: We have now dated this
car as a 1972 model, as that is what the V5C states but we can not be certain of
the original manufacture date of the vehicle.
This
impressive 1969 Mustang was imported into the United Kingdom in 1980 which would
account for its V registration plate. Thought to have arrived via the US
Military personal import arrangement, it has a 351 cubic-inch V8 Windsor motor
coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
The Canary
Yellow body shell looks to be solid and cosmetically is described as being
suitable for detailing and improvement. The original steering wheel has been
replaced by a vintage leather Moto-lita wheel, gear changing being handled
through a ‘white ball’ Hurst shifter. The carpets were replaced and a major
brake service carried out including a new master cylinder and rear wheel
cylinders, before going into storage for the last five or six
years.
It is
fitted with the desirable (and much needed) disc brakes at the front, the
history file showing that in 2009 it had clutch and prop shaft work that
amounted to £3,150. In storage for some time, its last MOT expired in October
2014 so it will doubtless benefit from some precautionary recommissioning before
use.
Rolling on
Torque-Thrust wheels, this Mustang looks hard as nails. Muscle cars don’t come
much better than a fastback Mustang, especially when fitted with a stick shift
manual gearbox and powerful disc brakes.
Please
note that there is a discrepancy regarding the chassis details recorded on the
DVLA V5C logbook which lists the car as a 1972 model.
