2000 Range Rover 2.5 DT (P38)
Later model P38
with 5-speed manual 'box; cream leather interior; only 80,176 miles and
driven 150 miles to the sale
Supplied new by Sean Behan Ltd
of Arklow, Ireland in December 2000 this later model P38 comes to us in 2.5
DT spec, featuring the robust 2.5-litre BMW straight-six turbo diesel mated
to 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in blue with retro-fitted cream
leather interior piped blue with grey velour door cards and grey carpets
(original interior was grey velour) and walnut trim. The car still rides on air
suspension and has the usual sagging headlining common with the P38 (although
this is readily fixable for about £400 with a kit online).
Showing just
80,176 miles covered in the hands of its 3-owners, its been with its last owner
since January 2004 and appears to be in good order bar a couple of minor marks
as pictured comensurate with its age, miles and type. Starting promptly as we
moved it around for these shots, the air suspension appeared to work as
directed, the vehicle sitting well on its original alloy wheels and unencumbered
by the so often seen bulky sidesteps fitted to many in the period.
Within
the history file we find the V5C, handbook and service book showing 2 stamps,
the last by Hartwell Land Rover at 22,112 miles in October 2003. A selection of
invoices shows some regular and recent maintenance including a repair to the
towbar wiring in March 2019, a new inlet manifold gasket at 70,737 miles in
January 2018 along with new battery, 6 glow plugs and new rear exhaust section
in June 2017, air suspension pump and block replacement/repair in September 2015
costing £495 and others dating back to 2014. Furthermore, a previous owner has
documented their expendture back to 2012 in a log which includes mention of a
replacement computer/ECU in May 2012 at a cost of £1,105. We also see an
impressive 14 old MOTs along with the current ticket valid until August
2021 with no advisories recorded and was driven some 150 miles to the
sale.
The P38 has seen something of a rennaisance in recent times and has
become a popular modern classic choice with its robust usability and classless
image, at home in the suburbs or in the fields and values have risen
accordingly.
