1961 BSA C15 Star

Matching numbers machine in nice condition all round

The BSA C15 was the company's first four-stroke unit construction machine and was a replacement for the indestructible C12 250. The largest capacity machine that could be ridden on a learner's licence at the time, it was hugely popular and became, for many, the first real experience of life on two wheels. Largely based on the 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub, it remained in production from 1958 to 1967 and its buoyant sales helped with BSA’s claim to be the world's most popular motorcycle.
According to a BSA Owners Club dating certificate on file, this C15 Star was built in 1961 and was finished in red. It was sold new via E Boult Ltd of Stone, Staffordshire, and was originally registered as 390 GBF. DVLA correspondence shows that it was issued with its current (non-transferable) age-related number, 174 XVF, in 2019.
Another BSA Owners Club vehicle report states that the engine fitted is original to the frame, making this a ‘matching numbers’ machine. It comes with no other history but appears to be in generally good order throughout.
