1963 Jaguar MkII 3.8 Automatic
Recently
imported from the USA; believed to have had only two registered keepers since
new; gearbox rebuilt by UK specialist at a cost of approx £2,000; Carmen red
with wire wheels; remarkably solid all round; left hand drive
This is a cracking example of these
superb motor cars with an exceptional and remarkably sound and solid body, in
good order throughout, and arguably having the most useable specification with
its power steering and Borg Warner gearbox.
Our vendor bought the car in the US in 2019 out
of a private collection and subsequently shipped it back to the UK, where it has
since been recommissioned by a classic Jaguar specialist. Even the underside,
floors, boot well, sills, wings, door bottoms are all absolutely rust free and
the doors shut with a very solid and re-assuring clunk, always a good indicator
of a sound structure.
The recommissioning has included a complete
specialist re-build of the Borg Warner gearbox, that alone cost some £2,000,
plus a radiator re-core, new coil, plugs, leads, fuel pump, carb servicing,
light units etc. It has since had its first MOT and now simply needs
some regular use.
All taxes have been paid and British
registration with a period plate has been applied for. With luck this will be
through before the end of the auction.
The photographs showing the interior and
paintwork really do show just how good this car looks. The chrome looks very
good, as is the upholstery and woodwork. Even the headlining is unmarked and
appears to be the original.
With its striking period correct Carmen red
paintwork and excellent chrome wire wheels, this would be a perfect classic for
historic rallies and local shows and is definitely worth consideration as an
investment or simply to use on a regular basis.
