1994 Cagiva Elefant 900

Three owners, the current since 1998; only 48,600km from new (30,200 miles) with good history

The big twin adventure motorcycle took off with Honda’s African Twinkie and Yamaha’s Super Tenere and Cagiva got in the market too with the Elefant.
High, wide and heavy, the Elefant needed the 900cc version of Ducati’s desmodromic twin and the 68bhp it provided to make it a useful tool and something that might be capable of whisking the intrepid rider from Paris to Dakar.
Supplied new by Laguna Motorcycles of Maidstone in September 1994, this Elefant has covered 48,600km (30,200 miles) from new in the hands of only three owners, the current keeper acquiring the bike way back in 1998.
The service book shows five stamps up to 31,637km in March 1998 when the book runs out of pages. A good sheaf of invoices attests to subsequent maintenance, the last service being carried out in April 2015 which included cam belts and a new front tyre since when the bike has only covered some 280km (170 miles). There are also 11 old MOTs on file, the last of which expired in May 2018 with no advisories recorded and the bike has barely turned a wheel since. Some period road tests and technical literature about the model are also included.
An interesting alternative to the Japanese super trailie and blessed with the mighty Ducati V-twin engine, this Cagiva is ready for its next big adventure. Bid vigorously now and it could be you sat astride it!
