Description
1968 Morris Minor 1000
A well prepared Minor;
driven 30+ miles to the sale; disc brakes; rebuilt engine; very sound
bodywork
This nice little Minor comes with plenty of history in the
file. A typed list of work and service dates back to 1996 and a significant file
of invoices show major attention in 2006. Mid Sussex Minors undertook some
quality repairs to the sills and floor and inner wing, details of which are
shown in photos. The bill for this (and other) work topped £4,300 and has
stood the test of time well.
In 2013 it had a recored radiator and two
years later repairs to the boot floor area, cutting out previous work and doing
the job properly. A good second hand boot lid was also fitted which was
shot blasted and painted light blue to match.
In 2018 the engine was
given the full treatment. New std pistons and rings were fitted along with +020"
mains and big ends which means the crank was reground too. A duplex timing chain
kit was fitted, along with a new B&B clutch, new waterpump, hoses and
ignition components. At this time, bills also show numerous trim parts acquired,
including front and rear bumper blades, window rubbers and new rear
springs.
It comes with current V5c, 21 old MOTs, its last no advisory
ticket expriring as recently as last year since when very few miles have been
added. Driven some 30 miles to the sale, it has proved an instant starter since
arrival and has the addition of a rev counter, ammeter and oil pressure gauge
mounted in front of the driver in a very '60s fashion. It has also been upgraded
with a front disc brake conversion.
Ready for immediate use, this
attractive little Minor presents well, although the paintwork could do with some
care and attention due to microblistering, especially to the roof area as
photographed.
