Description
1957 Austin A35
Owned by our vendor for the
last 18 years and seldomly used but regularly put through an MOT until
2012
Introduced
in 1956, the Austin A35 was a much-improved version of its A30 predecessor, the
name reflecting its larger and more powerful 35bhp A-Series 948cc engine which
it borrowed from the new Morris Minor 1000.
This
powerplant gave the little Austin a surprisingly nippy performance for its class
and even led to some saloon car racing successes during the late ‘50s – indeed
A35s are still being campaigned in historic races today, often humbling much
larger machines with their pace and agility.
Garaged by our
vendor since 2003, this A35 has only covered approximately 250 miles since and
is only being offered for sale due to an imminent house move. Regular outings to
the MOT station have almost been its only use so someone new to take her out for
some long drives is needed soon.
This Austin
certainly runs and drives, although bidders should be made aware that the foot
brake is not currently operable. Once serviced, it would be a perfectly useable
vehicle, with some cosmetic issues to the paint and seals that you may decide to
attend to or not.
