1972 MG Midget MkIII
No Reserve
Older
restoration three-owner example from 45-year ownership with history back to the
mid '80s showing just 86,000 miles
A
later Mk III Midget dating from October ’72, this one has the post-1970 face
lift changes which included black sills, recessed black grill and MGB style
squared off rear lights.
As
a ’72 model, it also gained the rounded rear arches as against the squared
arches of the earlier car along with the Triumph sourced steering rack giving
lower gearing and lighter steering. As such, these round-arched Midgets are
among the most desirable with all the improvements but without the ungainly
rubber bumpers that came in ’74 to meet US safety regulations.
This
tidy example comes to us from 45-year ownership and is finished in
attractive and oh-so-70’s Harvest Gold with black leatherette interior, silver
Rostyle wheels and black hood. The car presents well, with power coming from the
65bhp 1,275cc A-series inline four with usual manual ‘box.
The subject
of an older restoration, the history file contains bills for various parts from
the early/mid-eighties. The odometer reads approximately 86,000 miles, which
given its few-owner status is most likely correct, although we recommend you
make your own minds up. The car's last MOT expired in October 2020 and was
recorded without advisory. We'd suggest this Midget is absolutely one to use and
enjoy.
