Originally bought from William Towns Ltd in July 1983; never assembled or registered; accompanied with donor Metro engine and automatic gearbox; great project potential


Designed by William Towns and his Interstyl Studio, the Hustler shared the same square-edge design seen in some of his other cars, such as the Reliant SS2 and the 1970s Aston Martin Lagonda, and looked like a more angular version of the Moke.
Based on a simple, square-section chassis using Mini and Metro sub-frames and engines, around 500 kits were sold from 1978 until the late ‘80s, including four- and six-wheel versions in sports, pickup, estate and even amphibious form. As they were all assembled by individual customers, no two are exactly alike.
This one has in fact not been assembled at all by customer or mechanic so in its current guise, is entirely unique!
Included in the file is the original letter and invoice from Elizabeth Towns for a Hellcat 6 kit costing a total of £1,473. This of course did not include a power unit but included in this lot is an Austin 1300 engine and automatic gearbox with associated paperwork from the donor vehicle (Reg: DNY 21J). There are numerous invoices and wiring diagrams made by the initial owner but unfortunately, he never found the time to complete the assembly.
An unusual opportunity to acquire one of these six wheeled models and something that could fill many a dull evening in the shed, piecing together what could be a collectors piece one day and a lot of fun in the meantime.
