Description
1980 Land Rover SIII 109" Banbridge Fire
Tender
Showing just 9,000 miles in the hands of its two
Welsh Fire Service owners; stalled restoration project with many parts
included
Supplied new in June 1980 this late model Series III Landy
was delivered to its first owners, West Glamorgan Fire Service who were to keep
it in active service until March 1998 when it transferred to Mid and West Wales
Fire Brigade who owned it for many years until our vendor took the reins after
the last un-registered owner passed away mid-restoration.
Offered
here as an unfinished restoration in a non-running state it represents an
exciting opportunity to restore to its former glory, particularly for those who
have a passion for ex-service vehicles.
Appearing largely sound with
some metalwork repairs carried already (to varying standards of quality) there
is certainly scope to continue. A mountain of parts and spares accompany
this lot (photos to follow ahead of the sale) and include body panels/parts and
an array of fire brigade kit including helmets, hoses, hydraulic
pincers for cutting cars open etc - some of which may have good value to
collectors hunting online which could help fund the continued restoration of the
truck.
Within the history file, we find the current V5C, Fire Service
Appliance log book with regular entries showing use up to 1992 and original
delivery note and user instructions from Pilcher-Greene Ltd, suppliers of
Medical & Commercial vehicles of West Sussex dated 17th June
1980. The document refers to the vehicle as a 'Banbridge' MkII 109" wheel
base with diesel engine and Mk.6 Godiva UFP pump No. 7561 with PTO for use with
fresh water supplies.
A nice opportunity for sure, and quite by
chance the number plate features '999' - how apt!
