1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet
(964)
Striking Grand Prix white 964 with manual 'box on
offer from a deceased estate; great noise and great fun
Supplied new
in September 1991 by Porsche Cars GB of Reading this 964 generation 911 Carrera
2 Cabriolet is finished in Grand Prix White (L908) with smart blue mohair
hood, sat on 17inch CUP I alloy wheels with contrasting Marine blue (SW)
partial leather interior the car radiates early 90's Cool.
Looking
at the data sticker in the service book (and affixed to the
underside of the bonnet), we can deduce the original specification
included Sports seats piped white with electrical operation Left (383) and Right
(387), stereo Amplifier (494), Alpine Porsche 10 CD system (690) and code C18
suggesting the car was originally a RHD Japanese spec/market car although this
might be not be accurate given it was sold new by Porsche GB, as
stamped.
This 964 cabriolet features the 3.6 litre air-cooled flat-six
engine, developing 250bhp driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual
gearbox and has covered 147,565 miles in the hands of its 9 owners, however, our
long term owner of 9-years sadly recently died passing the car to his estate
and thence to his daughter which accounts for the last 3
owners.
Presenting well, there are minor signs of its 30 years with some
wear evident to the driver's seat bolster (common on the deeply bolstered Sports
seats), the rear spoiler usually automatic at speed or operable manually by
switch is stuck in the up position and the electric roof is operable only
manually at present after the owner tinkered with it and left some
marks to the paint and body as pictured. That aside, the car looks, sits
and sounds well.
Within the history file, we find the V5C, owner's pack
with manuals and service book with 13 stamps, the last by Welsh border
Porsche specialist APS at 146,904 miles in December 2016 . A further 4
stamps are present for brake fluid changes, the last at 146,944 miles again by
APS in January 2017. A raft of invoices on file date back many years and
show regular maintenance and spend with more recent invoices showing a clutch
replacement with new dual mass flywheel, fork arm bearing, new oil tank pipes,
brake pads, ARB links and gearbox oil change in November 2013 at 138,015 miles
by APS at a cost of £2,575.50.
Another bill for £794 from December 2013
by APS is present for 3 replacement oil pipes from the thermostat to filter
housing and oil tank at 138,313 miles, a new DME relay fitted in November 2012,
a £798 spend in December 2016 on stamped service including MOT, new washer
pump, jets and auxillary belts at 146,904 miles along with purchase invoiceof
the car by our long term owner dated April 2010 for £11,750.
Accompanying the current MOT valid until March 2022 which recorded
6 advisories are 7 old MOTs which also back up the mileage and low use in recent
years with fewer than 1,000 miles covered since its last major
service.
A nice opportunity to acquire a well loved 964 at sensible money
giving scope to improve the minor cosmetic flaws and fix the niggly bits like
the roof operation and rear spoiler.
