1999 Mercedes-Benz SL320 (R129)
Tidy later
model V6 SL with desirable glass panoramic removable hard-top; black leather
interior; lady owned showing just 89,575 miles
Supplied new in May
1999 this later model fce-lift R129 series SL features the 221bhp 3.2 litre V6
engine driving the rear wheels via 5-speed automatic transmission with Sports
and Winter (Economy) modes. Finished in Brilliant Silver with full black
leather interior the cars appears in a original, and unmolested condition
retaining its 5-blade alloy wheels and optional factory upgrade glass Panoramic
removable hard top with Black mohair soft-top.
Inside, we find electric
driver and passenger seats, walnut trim, rear seats, chrome rimmed dials, cruise
control, digital climate control with A/C, electric folding mirrors, headlamp
wash/wipe, wind deflector and an after market stereo (original in the
boot). Also in the boot we find a car cover, tool kit and box containing
the original front grill - this car has been retro fitted with a grill
akin to the later R230 series SL giving it a more up to date look which some
prefer.
The car comes from 7 year lady ownership seeing regular use with
7 previous keepers to her, and looks in good order for its age and modest
mileage of 89,595 miles with but a few marks to the body with limited signs of
corrosion around one side repeater and front wheel arch edge (common to the
R129). The wheels would no doubt benefit from a refurbishment to keep them
looking prime but the interior is excellent with little signs of its 22 year age
or mileage.
Within the history file we find the V5C, owner's pack &
service book revealing 10 stamps, 2 of which are duplicated in seperate
service booklets from Car Care Tetbury in 2010 and 2011. The last stamp in
the original book was in April 2013 at 78,140 also by Car Care Tetbury. The ream
of invoices on file show regular maintenance including replacement NS and OS
shock absorbers in August 2020, major service plus gearbox oil and filter change
with new pipes in January 2011 at 72,461 miles costing £854.19, a pair of new
catalytic convertors in April 2015 costing £288, £666 spent in September 2019 at
Autotrans on a transmission service and replacement cooler pipes, routine
service by local MB specialist Gerry Doverman in August 2017 at 87,704 miles,
an underbdy waxoil in March 2019, and a further £1938 spent on a
replacement electronic transmission control valve body, sensor, pump bush and
reconditioned torque convertor in March 2021 at 89,434 miles with other historic
invoices dating back to 2002.
Furthermore, we find an impressive 17 old
MOTs dating right back along with 2 keys and current MOT valid until August 2021
with 2 defects relating to a ball joint dust cover deteriorated and a slight oil
leak. Ready to be enjoyed, an R129 SL with the roof down is a joy
and considerable value for money at the enticing estimate pitched
here.
