Description
1982 Ford Cortina P100 Pickup
Rare
variant on the Cortina; imported from South Africa in 2017; 3-litre V6 engine;
showing 62,000 miles; two recorded previous keepers since arriving in the
UK
Introduced in 1971, manufacturing of these Cortina Pickups
was solely in South Africa initially and proved to be very popular and pretty
handy over there, before later examples were constructed slightly closer to home
in Portugal.
This one has spent almost all its life in South Africa
until being imported to the UK in 2017. The mileage shows only 62,000 and after
taking a look around the car and the condition of the original 3.0 litre V6
beast under the bonnet, the vendor believes this to be correct. Holding a
current MOT until July this year, bidders should be advised that there were a
few advisories, including some corrosion to the brake pipes and also to the
front bulkhead area. We understand that a complete new exhaust system has been
recently fitted, timing and valve clearances done, the interior of the cab
recovered along with the new tray canvas.
It has obviously had a few modifications done over the
years, including the deep 8J x 15 alloy wheels and the removal of the plastic
front bumper (included with the car) but these ‘bakkies’ along with their later
Sierra counterparts appear to be becoming favourites to modify, drift and hot
up, so if not destined for a private collection of rare machines, this could be
next seen, tuned up and on a drift circuit near
you.
