Description
1959 Chevrolet Apache
A beautifully prepared
short-bed truck; huge spec; 350 V8 with Turbo trans; retrimmed and ready to go
or show....
This most impressive short-bed Chevy
3100 Apache was acquired by the vendor when he was living in Florida. Spotted at
a local Auto shop in Pompano Beach, there was simply no holding him back, and
the ready-restored truck was his.
Dating from
1959, it remains rock-solid underneath and comes powered by a 350 cu in
(5.7-litre) V8 mated to a 350 Turbo Trans auto box.
The car has been professionally painted in dark blue and the
interior refreshed with a complete restoration of the original seat (nice), a
new tilt steering column, billet shifter and new windscreen rubbers
etc. Great care has been taken with the
wiring, which is all new and correctly fused and the radio has both ipod and USB
connections.
The engine has been breathed on
with a brand-new Holley 600cfm carb on an Edlebrock performance manifold, an HEI
electronic distributor and a new GM PAS pump and No Limit steering rack
professionally installed.
The fuel tank was
renewed and it has twin exhausts which make a great noise, the truck both
looking and sounding very sharp indeed.
The
vendor subsequently bought it back home with him in July 2018, since when he has
further improved the truck, most notably updating the front axle with new wheel
bearings, a brake servo and new king pins.
Inside the cab further development work has taken place including
more soundproofing and he has added a professionally installed LPG conversion
making it respectably cheap to run.
Despite
having huge road presence, being a short-bed, this 3100 isn’t actually that
long, so it will fit in most garages and still feels good to drive on UK
roads.
If a bruising V8 American truck is on
your agenda, this one is worth special attention.
