Description
1932 Wolseley Hornet Saloon
Owned by our
vendor since 1996; not been on the road since; appears to be complete and in
lovely original condition; oily rag motor, ripe for recommissioning; fantastic
opportunity
Unveiled in 1930 to the general
public, the Wolseley Hornet came in all sorts of shapes and sizes and quite
often was presented with bespoke specialist coachwork. As you can see, this one
is still with its original saloon body, which seems pretty sound and ready to
go.
Last on the road in 1995/96, when it was
advertised in the Exchange & Mart (sorely missed!), it was subsequently
bought by our vendor. It was described as taxed and MOTd, in complete and
original condition with no restoration. Priced at £3,995, it couldn’t be
resisted and is likely to have been driven into the garage from where it has
just come.
The old logbooks on file suggest
that this little Hornet has only had four or five registered keepers
throughout its life and the first three are likely to be the same person, based
at different addresses. It has not been started for some time so it will need
some re-commissioning. The engine turns and everything seems to be present from
what we can see.
Looking like a great
opportunity at the estimate published here, the interior is as ‘oily rag’ and
genuine as the exterior.
