1965 Fiat 1500 Cabriolet
Gorgeous and very rare Pininfarina
designed cabriolet in super and freshly recommissioned order; lovely
burgundy hood and interior - very chic
Dating from
March 1965 this wonderful and rather rare drop top features gorgeous Pininfarina
lines, and represents a super alternative to a MGB/C.
Powered by the
proven front mounted 75hp 1,500cc engine, it drives the rear wheels via 4-speed
manual transmission and features front disc brakes and alloy rear drums giving
effortless performance for its era, sufficient for modern day
touring.
Sold new in the UK, as a left-hand drive car, it looks to have
had only 3 owners to date, the first lady owner having it shipped to the UK
initially enjoying it as a daily drive. Always cared for, she kept the car
from new until August 2003 when an enthusiast owner used, cherished, maintained
and improved the car before our current owner, a collector purchased it in 2010,
the car seeing very little use over the last 11 years whilst in his
collection.
The Fiat has recently been treated to some light mechanical
recommissioning through May 2021 ahead of the sale, which include a full service
and check-over, replacement brake master cylinder, various minor electrical
repairs, replacement top hose, a fully rust proofed underside at a cost of £859
with supporting invoices on file along with submission for an MOT although
exempt, which it passed without advisory.
In addition, older invoices on
file show the car was treated to a full repaint in 2014 at a cost of some £3410.
Further sundry bills are present with some old MOTs as well as the current V5C,
older V5’s, and no doubt useful workshop manual in English.
Driven from
South Gloucestershire to the sale, our vendor declared it excellent with
everything appearing to work bar the radio. It certainly looks very pretty in
its cream colour scheme with contrasting burgundy interior and matching mohair
hood (manually operated, and very simple), the car is ready to be enjoyed and
envied by many no doubt. For reference for the new owner, there is a very
enthusiastic Facebook group for the 1500 called ‘Fiat 1500 Squadra’ the car
being known to them which could prove be a wealth of untapped knowledge on
ownership of the model.
The vendor also notes the 2nd owner has the
original bill of sale, various other documents and a red mohair hood cover/bag -
details of which are in the file with contact information for the new
owner.
