1973 Triumph TR6 PI
Original 150bhp UK car;
overdrive; fully restored in the mid-90s including rebuilt engine and gearbox
and only 4,500 miles since; just recommissioned following 20 years in storage
with new fuel injection system and 5 new tyres; in very good order
throughout
As the Heritage Certificate confirms, this Triumph TR6 is
an original UK market car with the 150bhp fuel-injection engine. It was built in
September 1972 and was finished in Pimento Red with a black Ambla interior,
overdrive, disc wheels, static seat belts and a heater.
It comes with a very large history file extending back to
the early 1980s, invoices and photos showing that it received a body-off
restoration in 1993/94 at A&J Motors of Leeds which cost £9,100 and included
a rebuilt gearbox.
In June 1998 it was sent to Worcester Classic Cars where
the engine was rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, reground crank, timing chain,
oil pump etc, the cylinder head being converted to run on unleaded fuel. A new
clutch kit was fitted at the same time, along with a spin-on oil filter
conversion, electronic ignition and a stainless steel exhaust system, a Kenlowe
fan having been fitted some time previously.
The mileage at this point was 18,350 and the car then did
around 4,500 miles before the fuel injection system packed up and the TR6 was
parked up on blocks with the wheels removed in a nice dry garage where it was to
remain for the next 20 years.
Earlier this year it was finally taken out of storage and
returned to roadworthy condition, as detailed in notes on file. The entire fuel
injection system has been stripped and rebuilt with new injectors, injector
pipes, fuel metering unit and fuel pressure regulator. The fuel tank has also
been removed and cleaned and fitted with a new sender unit and a new Bosch fuel
pump.
The brakes have been fully overhauled with various new
parts (master cylinder; front calipers; wheel cylinders; pads; hoses; adjusters
etc), along with a new set of tyres (x5), refurbished wheels, a new set of
carpets, new wiper blades and various new silicone hoses. A new pair of front
seat covers have been ordered which, at the time of cataloguing, had not yet
arrived but will be sent to the winning bidder when they do (they are expected
to be here by 24th June).
As you can see in the photos, the car is now in very good
order throughout, with a good hood and a good tonneau cover. Starting promptly
and running well as we have moved it around on site, this thoroughly restored
and rejuvenated TR6 is being offered here at a very tempting guide price.
