Description
1989 Land Rover 90
Set-up for Off-road use
with snorkel, external roll-cage, Insa Turbo tyres, sump-gaurd, sill bars etc -
lots of go-anywhere fun!
Dating from October 1989
this imposing Land Rover 90 hails from the ‘pre-Defender’ nomenclature and looks
to have been set-up for off-roading use and enjoyment.
Re-finished in a
crackle-effect red matt red paint for added durability, this 90 certainly has
road presence with its substantial 285/75 Insa Turbo Special Track mud terrain
tyres sat on 16inch modular black wheels, snorkel air intake, external roll cage
and checker plating.
Evidently subject to some considerable spend, the
underside looks tidy enough for an old 90 with sump guard, side bars, suspension
lift and clever spare wheel hangar on the rear door/pillar.
Showing
144,234 miles the truck shows some signs of age, mileage and use like many old
Landies, particularly one that has seen off-road use. Inside, we find seating
for 3 on vinyl seats showing typical signs of wear and in the van-side rear,
seat belts for any rear passengers and rubber flooring.
The history file
includes only the V5C showing 14 previous owners and current MOT valid until
June 2022 recording just 1 advisory for a OSF shock absorber loose.
Under the bonnet, the engine looks to have been swapped out for a later
turbo-charged 200tdi lump as is common. Bar the highlighted cosmetic bits
including often found rot to the bottom of the doors the truck looks to offer a
lot of fun and go anywhere ability for little outlay. Tidied up, it could
represent a bit of a snip at the enticing estimate considering how 90/Defender
values have rocketed of late and given its age, could be eligible for the export
market too.
