1934 MG PA
With current vendor for
some 38 years, this car has a lovely patina with restoration work carried
out in 1976; ready to enjoy
The MG P-type was manufactured from 1934 to 1936 and used
an updated version of the overhead camshaft, crossflow engine used in the 1928
Morris Minor and Wolseley 10 - previously fitted in the J-Type Midget of
1932 to 1934 but with a much-needed three-bearign crank. The chassis was a
strengthened and slightly longer version of that used in the J-Type with
suspension by half-elliptic springs all round as well as rigid front and rear
axles.
This PA was first registered on 18th June 1934 and has been with the
current vendors family since June 1973. They paid £375 at the
time.
It was was restored between 1973 - 1976, using the
correct parts as can be seen from the dashboard instruments. A replacement
engine was acquired and rebuilt. There is a comprehensive file of invoices
documenting the restoration works and in 1995, new blue leather seats were
purchased from the traditional coach trimming supplier, Wm. M. Collingburn,
costing over £600. In 1996 work included a reconditioned fuel pump and the
engine overhauled again with a new head and exhaust manifold.
The documentation includes green log book, a copy of the
original bill of sale to a Mr Willie Boothroyd of Huddersfield, various
correspondence, some MOTs dating between 1972 and 1997, tax discs and
invoices. The most recent invoice August 2021 including stripping and
cleaning fuel pump, fuel lines and points.
This MG is ready to enjoy as it is currently with a lovely
patina or to futher improve.
