1997 Mercedes-Benz SL280 (R129)

Mid-point facelift example with 2.8-litre straight-six power showing 102,000 miles; last serviced in September 2020; striking colour scheme; good looking covertible; hood in good order

Originally supplied by Mercedes-Benz, Milton Keynes, this SL280 has had nine recorded keepers and has only just tipped over the 100,000 mile mark - serviced approximately every 10,000 miles, mainly by Mercedes specialists.

Nine of these services are stamped in the book and we understand it was most recently serviced in 2020, when our vendor purchased the car, although we have been unable to find an invoice for this. It is in cracking order and has covered very few miles in the last five years or so.

Apart from a few little paint touch ups and general maintenance, R381 ABD has never had any major restoration and is showing very little, if any, signs of rust. We understand that the MOT inspector who awarded the most recent certificate with no advisories was very complimentary about the car.

Our 75 year old vendor bought the car in 2020 as bit of a treat but has made the decision that the Vivianite metallic green seems to attract too much attention for him! “It’s a stunning colour, but not for me…..” he says. Is it for you?

Very sensibly estimated here we think this striking car is well worth close inspection..
