Description
1989 Rover 827 Si
Low mileage example of this
rare range-topper
Introduced in 1988 and fitted with the punchy
Honda 2.7-litre V6, the 827Si incorporated Honda's four speed auto box with
close ratios and lower overall gearing compared to the less sporty 800
models.
The press liked its performance - good for the 62mph dash in 8.4
seconds which is still impressive for a big, comfy saloon. With a price tag of
over £14,000 at the time, (Jaguar XF money in today's world), they were
reasonable sellers but were not highly prized as time went by which is probably
why there are so few left today.
For those 'died in the wool' Rover fans
out there, and there are many, this 827 Si represents the top of the late '80s
range and has still only covered 82,696 miles from new AND it even comes with
1/2 a tank of petrol! It is MOT'd until March 2022 according to the DVLA website
with no advisories showing and it certainly moved around nicely while
taking the photos.
There are three former keepers on the V5C and a recent
modest bill for work done for its previous MOT as well as its bookpack
including handbook but no service record and a Haynes manual.
This
affordable Modern Classic still looks sharp more than 30 years on and
we all rather like it - perhaps a sign of our age....
