1987 Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12
Sound sub-100K example
from a deceased estate; significant recent expenditure after a period in
storage; fresh MOT
Sold new by Henlys of Hendon, this V12 XJS was
delivered to its new owner in August 1987. The accompanying service book shows
13 stamps, the first, a complimentary visit, took place in January 1988 at
1,417 miles.
Maintenance took place virtually each year from then until
1996 by which time the car had covered 75,137 miles. The next stamp dates from
2008, a gap of some 12 years during which time just 12,300 miles had been
added.
The vendor's late father acquired it in 2008, a list of
expenditure over the next few years showing new exhausts, service items, an
alternator, water pump, bushes etc - much as one would expect.
In 2013
the car was put into storage, emerging again earlier this year when it was given
a thorough overhaul and recommissioning for its MOT, which expires at the end of
June 2022 and shows no advisories.
Al's Classic Cars near
Stratford-upon-Avon fitted a new battery, wipers etc for £351 and a further
£1,100 was spent at nearby A J Birch in June this year. They fitted new front
callipers, a nearside rear calliper, rear pads, 20 new wheel nuts. The rear axle
was removed and worked on at this time.
The car now shows 93,855
miles. A solid example, there are a few areas of paintwork to the lower
part of the car which could be improved, but it still looks the well-cared for
example it is.
The well-ordered file includes numerous bills, the
service book and handbook along with the V5C and
current MOT.
Attractively estimated, this full-fat 5.3-litre V12
represents the top of the Jaguar range back in the late '80s - surely they
can't stay at this price level for much longer.
