1989 Volvo 240 GLT Estate
Rare manual example
with just 108,475 miles; in everyday use; nice spec and colour combination; 31
service stamps; the one to have....
Sold new to a lady in
Alton, Hampshire through Rudds Volvo in Southampton in 1990, this top-spec 240
GLT was ordered in metallic silver, a black leather interior and a manual
gearbox - an unusual combination at the time.
She kept the car until 1993
when it was sold locally, its new owner religiously servicing the car and
keeping it until 2016 - a period of 23 years. By this time, it had covered
99,800 miles. There are no fewer than 31 service stamps in the book plus
supporting invoices.
It changed hands again in 2017 and 2018, by
which time the mileage had gradually increased to 100,862miles, the
current V5C reflecting its four previous keepers.
The vendor
has used the car as her everyday vehicle, taking the mileage to a
shade under 108,500 miles, the car having just passed a no advisory MOT
which expires in October 2022.
While in her hands, it has had a set of
four matching quality Avon tyres fitted and has proved entirely reliable, with a
recent holiday to West Wales where it was much admired. There are a couple of
areas that could do with some TLC, including some corrosion to the rear of the
sills but the car is essentially sound with the potential to turn into a very
nice example.
On offer at a very sensible estimate, this smart
2.3-litre 240 GLT has oodles of street presence, and what used to be the antique
traders vehicle of choice has suddenly become very hip, cool and
trendy - who would have thought??
