2001 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante
Low
mileage example; fresh MOT; service history; on offer from a deceased
estate; investment potential; great reg number V12 VGE
included
"Short of
rowing for Oxford at the Henley Regatta with a double Tanqueray and tonic
balanced on your knee, there are few experiences more acutely British than
climbing into an Aston Martin DB7." As Car and Driver reported in September
1996, the DB7 set new standards for the world's most famous brand and went on to
become the most successful Aston ever, with more than 7,000 made before it was
replaced by the DB9 in 2003. Impeccably styled by Ian Callum, the DB7 is also
widely considered to be one of the most beautiful cars of all
time.
At first
the car was only available with a 3.2-litre straight-six, but in 1999 a Vantage
model with a 6.0-litre V12 was launched that now boasted a massive 420bhp –
sufficient to crack the 60mph barrier in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 186mph
in manual form (the automatic was limited to 165mph).
Some 25
years down the line and the car still has a good reputation for reliability, a
rare quality in a supercar of this performance.
Dating
from 2001, this V12 Vantage Volante Auto comes to us from a deceased estate.
Last changing hands in 2014, it has had four previous keepers and has still only
covered some 58,400 miles from new.
Sold new
by Paramount of Derby, the service book has 11 stamps to 57,531 in 2016 plus the
initial Pdi. The history file includes a bill of sale dating from 2006 to its
previous owner and invoices from Lancaster Reading and design XKR during his
ownership.
The car
subsequently visited Aston Martin Works in 2014, as well as local Tram-Inn
garage for new rear discs and pads as well as waxoiling the
bodywork.
In
September of this year it was fitted with a new battery and the alloy wheels
were refurbished, plus further work was undertaken for its MOT which expires in
September 2022 and shows no advisories. The bill for this work totalled some
£2,850 and included two new 'in-tank' fuel pumps, new handbrake cables,
handbrake shoes and a new alloy radiator (£720 alone).
This
impressive 6.0-litre V12 Aston Convertible has clearly been maintained by caring
owners and comes with the very appropriate registration V12 VGE which will have
a significant value on its own.
