1976 Ford Granada 2000 GL Mk1

Only 12,300 miles from new with supporting documentation; three family owners and garaged since 1999; find another?

Purchased by our vendor’s family in July 1976 through local dealer E.J Teale & Co. Ltd of Pershore, this April 1976 Ford Granada MkI comes in 2.0 litre GL guise. Finished in gold with matching brown Vinyl roof, it features a sunroof, brown cloth interior and 4-speed manual transmission and was sold new by Coulters Ford main dealer of Evesham.

The car is completely original and unmolested and transferred from the first owner, a Mr M. Butler of Evesham who looks to have owned it for only 3 or 4 months to Mr Tansell in July 1976 and then to his wife in March 1983 with whom it has remained since. The car has covered just 12,061 miles from new and has remained in dry storage, unused, in a barn near Pershore since 1999. Prior to that, the car was used very sporadically due to health issues, clocking up only a handful of miles each year.

The car has been pulled out of long term storage and is presented ‘as is’ - no attempt has been made to start the car given how long its been standing. The bodywork is straight with but a few localised areas of surface scabbing as depicted in the images. The vinyl roof looks to be in sound order and the underside remarkably clean with the wax oil coating applied many moons ago looking to have done what was asked of it.

Inside, the interior looks good with little sag or degradation and representative of low miles and many years in storage. The car would obviously benefit from a thorough overhaul and service to say the least but is so unmolested and original it would be well worthwhile the extra effort required to sympathetically restore it to its former glory.

The history file includes an old style V5, purchase invoice dated July 1976, owner handbook, insurance slips from the early 90s, 10 old MOTs dating from between 1985 at 10,201 miles up to May 1999 at 12,052 miles, Coulters Ford dealer accessories guide and a selection of old bills including a bill from May 1999 to free off the clutch and brakes after such little use ahead of its last MOT in 1999 at 12,050 miles and another for 2 replacement front brake callipers in 1993 at 11,455 miles. We also find several old MOT inspection reports to accompany the MOT certificates.
