1976 Honda 400/4 Supersports
WOW -
just 1,400 miles from new; engine turns; a very original bike; a fantastic
opportunty
This 'time-warp' bike comes with its original bookpack,
which includes the handbook and service book. It was initially sold to a lady in
Llantwit Major through local dealers Leslie Griffiths of Bridgend.
They
gave it its free 500 miles service a month later, the bike subsequently entering
the hands of the vendor's late father. The warranty was transfered, witnessed by
a stamp from Honda UK dated October 1977 not long after he bought it.
The
bike suited him well as he was not a tall gentleman, the very low seat
height and light weight being just some of the reasons the 400/4 was such a
sales success.
Part of a large fleet of interesting cars and bikes, it
was used sparingly for many years, until it was finally rested up in the garage.
The most recent MOT expired in 1999. At this point, it had still only covered
1,363 miles, a figure which has increased by barely 31 miles to this
day.
What you see therefore is a genuine two owner bike, with original
documentation that has still covered fewer than 1,400 miles. The engine turns,
although hasn't run for 20 years or so and we notice the side cover for the
battery is missing.
The 400/4 has become a most collectible machine, and
one with so few miles and with such originality is sure to get a lot of
attention wherever it goes.
