2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT
Only
59,600 miles from new with 7 service stamps to date; ZF 6-speed paddle-shift
gearbox; very smart indeed; cost over £83k new; irrestible at this price!
The fifth generation Maserati Quattroporte (Tipo M139) ran
from 2003 – 2012 and was the first Quattroporte to be made entirely under the
watchful eye of Ferrari who had taken a 50% controlling stake in Maserati a few
years before.
Utterly different to its rather angular predecessors which
had been around since 1963, it had voluptuous four-door coachwork styled by
Pininfarina and was powered by Ferrari’s F136 engine, a wonderfully sonorous 4.2
V8 which produced 395bhp and could launch the car to 62mph in 5.4 seconds on its
way to a top speed of 170mph.
From 2006 an improved Sport GT version was available (as
here) with more sporting Skyhook adaptive dampers, uprated Brembo brakes, a more
vocal exhaust and an improved 6-speed ZF automatic gearbox with paddle-shift
manual mode and smoother changes, 35% quicker in sport mode. It also had various
trim upgrades including black chrome on the mesh front grille and the side air
intakes, carbon fibre dash trimmings, alloy foot pedals and Alcantara
headlining. At £83,300 new, the Sport GT was about £8k more than the standard
QP.
Supplied new by HR Owen of London in September 2007, this
Sport GT looks wonderful in metallic black with a tan hide interior. It has
covered 59,600 miles to date with a good service history comprising 7 stamps in
the book, the last at 48,598 miles in December 2017. An invoice shows that the
coolant system was flushed and the antifreeze renewed in August 2021 when the
heater hose was also replaced (a known weak spot of the model). The V5C shows 7
former keepers, the current since November 2019.
As you can see in the photos, it is a most impressive
looking car with few signs of wear, the only defects we noted being a tyre
pressure warning indicator on the dash display, some kerbing to the left rear
wheel and some minor microblistering to the paint on the bonnet. Driven some 90
miles to the sale, it has an MOT until June 2022, has been starting promptly and
running beautifully as we have moved it around on site and comes with all its
original handbooks in the original leather wallet.
A fabulous thing all round, with huge presence and
charisma, it looks irresistible at the modest guide price suggested.
