Description
1977 Triumph Stag
Ideal use and improve
example driven to the sale; removable hard-top; auto 'box owned since
2006
Driven to us by the vendor, this distinctive
Stag has been with our man since 2006 although seen little recent use.
Dating from May 1977, the Stag was originally red in colour and looks to
have been repainted in 2018 with the colour change recorded with DVLA in
December of that year. The inside is black vinyl with wood trim, the odometer
showing 75,179 miles. The engine looks to be the 3.0 Triumph V8 and is mated
here to automatic transmission and comes with a removable hard
top.
Although repainted, it does requires cosmetic attention with cracks,
peel and surface corrosion to attend to, but looks to be a solid enough base
from which to start.
The history file includes the V5C showing six
former keepers, Stag owner’s handbook, 11 old MOTs dating back to 2003 at 69,721
miles and a selection of invoices for parts and works carried out, including
welding to the OSR chassis and outer sills in 2010.
The car is MOT exempt
and was last presented for test in July 2017 when it passed without advisory
which bodes well.
Although the car starts and runs, we urge caution if
you plan to drive it home, we noted what looked like a brake fluid leak from the
offside rear wheel area. That aside, at the enticing estimate it gives
the new owner plently of scope to get their hands dirty and spend some money
which should reward later on.
