2001 Jaguar XKR (X100)
Tidy supercharged 4.0
treated to a new timing chain at 115,000 miles; recent new head lining & HID
light upgrade; stainless sports tails
Supplied new
in April 2001 this pre-facelift X100 series XKR coupe boasts the potent 370Bhp
supercharged 4.0 V8 engine driving the rear wheels via 5-speed automatic
transmission giving a 0-60mph time when new of under 6.0 seconds and onto an
electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Finished in a lovely hue of
dark blue the car rides on 20inch BBS alloy wheels which have recently been
refurbished by our owner of seven years. The car has covered little mileage
recently having been laid up for much of the Covid period and as such is
reluctantly being offered for sale.
Inside, we find the usual array of
toys including electric heated seats with driver memory, digital automatic
climate control, electric windows and mirrors, leather seats, walnut dash,
cruise control, sport mode, automatic lights and wipers and CD changer in the
boot. The XKR shows 122,383 miles and looks to have worn it well with minimal
scuffing or marks to the interior and limited signs of age to the very shiny
bodywork which looks to have been repainted either in total, or in part at some
point, not uncommon for a 20 year-old sports car susceptible to stone chips and
the like.
During his tenure, the vendor had the often-troublesome
headlining replaced, improved the head lights with HID bulbs and the timing
chain renewed in 2015 which is noted with the last stamp in the service book at
115,689 miles in December 2015 by Aylesbury Service Centre and fitment of
stainless-steel sports tails to the exhaust which delete the final silencer thus
releasing a subtle V8 exhaust note rather lacking from the standard spec, rather
subdued exhaust system.
In addition to those works noted above, the
history file includes the V5C showing 4 former keepers, the owner’s pack and
replacement service book revealing 15 stamps 10 of which are main dealers, 3 a
well-known marque specialist and the last 2 by the independent garage noted
above. Furthermore, we find a selection of main dealer invoices for service and
maintenance works and 7 old MOTs plus current valid until October 2022 with no
advisories recorded.
We observe from the car’s MOT history, it has
covered less than 2,000 miles during our vendor’s 5 year tenure and noted
on arrival and on moving it around for these shots the engine management light
was illuminated with the message "restricted performance" on the dash and could
hear the engine was not as it should - perhaps relating to a lack of use and/or
stale fuel - given how little the car has been used, it would also no doubt
benefit from a thorough service. In addition, there is also a 10-15cm crack to
the windscreen in the bottom NS corner and dents as pictured to the driver's
door.
