1987 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo MkIII
(GA70)
Super rare and collectible twin turbo (GA70) manual
MkIII with digi-dash in uncommonly unmolested order showing just
124,534km
Dating from 1987, this hyper-rare MkIII
Toyota Supra is finished in dark blue with matching blue velour interior and
sits upon its original spec 15-inch polished face alloy wheels with Supra
branding and comes to us in highly collectible JDM (Japanese Domestic Market)
GA70 form. It features the DOHC 2.0 litre 1G-GTE twin-turbo straight-six
engine developing in stock tune, 207bhp and 244NM of torque driving the rear
wheels via 5-speed W58 manual transmission.
It comes from a private
collection of Japanese sports cars, including Supra’s, Skyline’s and
Impreza’s and looks to be in remarkably unmolested order. It still boasts
its correct Toyota GT-12 turbochargers, stock inter-cooler, exhaust and even
alloy wheels that have just been refurbished. This model features classic '80’s
digi-dash with displays for fuel, revs, speed, temp, boost and also TEMS
adjustable dampers.
In addition, we find cruise control, a leather
steering wheel, immobiliser, electric windows, mirrors A/D and stereo plus
electrically adjustable lumbar and side bolsters, not to mention pop-up
headlights which will always be cool. The boot reveals the original trim and
under floor spare wheel cover to be present and intact. We also note, the rear
seats have no seat belts as it was supplied in Japan.
The history file
includes only the V5C, Haynes manual, a couple of invoices for red coolant,
lowering springs and current MOT valid until February 2022 with no advisories
recorded. The current indicated mileage is just 124,534Km (77,387 miles), the
MOT history shows only 4,000Km covered since 2019 (its first online recorded UK
MOT since digitization in 2005)– however, the car was imported and registered
here in October 1998, the car remaining in a private collection from April 1999
until March 2021.
Classic/Retro-classic JDM cars have rocketed in
appeal, collectability and therefore value of late with Toyota Supra, AE86 and
Nissan Skylines leading the charge - the Americans are even importing RHD cars
from the UK such is the scarcity of supply even in Japan and high prices
achieved/being commanded. The MKIII Supra has recently followed suit on the tail
of the MkIV and the rarest of them such as this unmolested GA70 1G-GTE twin
turbo manual version will, we expect, be exciting to watch.
Bidders
please note, the V5C has the car recorded as a 2980cc engine, when in fact it
should read 1988cc – an error made on initial import and straight-forward to
alter with DVLA via the V5C and a covering letter.
