1988 Bentley Eight

Lovely example in a rare colour; owned and run by the past Chairman of the Welsh RR & Bentley Enthusiast Club for many years

Supplied new by Kenning Limited of London in August 1988 this uncommonly smart Bentley Eight comes to us in attractive Fern Green Metallic with Parchment leather interior piped green.

Under the bonnet, we find the proven 6.75 litre V8 with natural aspiration as an Eight model and a more supple ride than the more sporting Turbo model.

Showing 99,018 miles the car has been in the caring hands of its long-term Bentley Enthusiast (former) Chair owner since March 2009 covering approximately 20,000 miles during this time with many enjoyable club meets and rallies under its belt.

Inside, we find the typical old-school charm, quality and fitment of a Bentley from this era with acres of leather, wood cappings, electric seats, lambswool rugs, rear foot-rests, electric windows, mirrors and ‘of the era’ climate control.

Starting and running as it should the car presents well, the paint looking largely flawless and sitting upon its original alloy wheels the car is wonderfully unmolested and original.

The history file includes the V5C showing just 5 former keepers, considerable owner’s pack and 3 service books revealing 17 service stamps in the 1st, 7 in the 2nd continuation booklet and a further 5 stamps in the 3rd. The last stamped service was in September 2019 at 98,349 miles by Classic Motor Corp (Bentley & RR Specialists) of London and S. Wales. A note in the 3rd continuation service book shows the vendor spent £3,281 on maintenance alone between 2016-17 including work on the gearbox, new battery, PAS system, prop coupling, gearbox re-tune, modulator unit, kickdown relay and new heater tap.

In addition, we see 2 folders of history including a tome of bills for routine parts and service dating back many years, useful model information, club info, build information and original delivery note confirming the spec and colours.

The MOT history is also similarly vast, with some 22+ old MOTs on file, spare keys and current MOT valid until December 2022 with no advisories recorded.

One to cherish and enjoy and a credit to its owner who has sadly lost his under cover storage facility, we don’t often see them in this condition (the car!).
