1985 TVR 350i
Arguably one of
the best sounding TVR's in super order; full engine rebuild and enhancement less
than 2,000 miles ago; who doesnt love a Wedge!?
Dating from 1985 this striking and ever-so 80’s 350i or ‘Wedge’ as
they are fondly known by the TVR car club crew, looks in outstanding order
having been treated to some recent upgrade works and paint
correction.
Supplied new by Engine Close Garage of Mirfield in June 1985
the car is finished in red with contrasting black Mohair soft-top with removable
Targa panel, silver X-spoke alloy wheels and black leather interior with walnut
veneer trim.
Under the angular, low slung long nose with aggressive
air-dam, we find a 3.5 litre Rover V8 producing c.190Bhp in stock form
driving the rear wheels via 5-speed manual transmission.
The car looks to
have been well cared for and maintained with a super interior, smart hood and
shining paintwork and looks to have worn its 107,130 miles well. The supporting
history file is considerable and includes the V5C recording 8 former keepers,
the owner’s pack with service book revealing 15 historic stamps, the last at
75,604 miles in October 1996, copy parts list for mechanical components,
suspension components, chassis parts and body parts etc for the whole car,
photographs of the car, useful notes on bits like where the rear brakes are
sourced from (Jag XJ6), a heap of invoices, 13 old MOTs and current MOT valid
until February 2022 with no advisories recorded.
The MOT history reveals
the car to have covered little mileage in the last 10 years, only c.1,000 miles
in fact with 2014/5 – 2021 appearing to be off the road with no MOT. A detailed
note from the previous owner details his ownership from 2007 and includes a
summary of works he undertook which includes an engine rebuild between 2011-12
with new machined block with new core plugs and cam bearings by RPI Engineering,
reground crank, Piper 270 fast road cam and lifters, uprated timing gears and
chain, new oil pump gears, new crank main bearing shells, new piston rings and
little end bearings plus ARP stud and nut kit along with K&N filter at
105,800 miles plus rebuilt front and rear brake callipers, replacement throttle
potentiometer, silicone water hoses and replacement steering and UJ
bushes.
Prior to this the notes and invoices refer to a re-bushed rear
subframe in 2006, fitment of a triple core radiator with twin fans, braided
brake hoses, half stainless exhaust and confirmation of dry storage between
2015-2020.
An unusually tidy example that shouts loudly and, quite
frankly, beautifully – these earlier pre-cat V8’s really do make the most
fantastic V8 noise.
Ok, it’s done a few miles, but they are hard to find
in such nice unmolested order, particularly with such a huge history file and
recent engine rebuild less than 2,000 miles ago. Get a Wedge in your life
and with values are on the climb too – all the more reason to snap a good one up
when you can.
