1985 Mercedes-Benz 280SE W126
Earlier, First
Series W126 showing just 78,175 miles; driven 150 miles to the sale with 12
service stamps
Supplied new in February 1985 by
David J. Sparshatt Ltd Mercedes main dealer of Hampshire this appealing old
S-class hails from the earlier ‘First Series’ generation of W126 production
(1979-1985) and comes to us in 280SE guise.
Finished in Thistle Green with contrasting beige velour interior
the car still retains a commanding presence. Inside the roomy cabin, we find
electric driver’s seat, Zebrano wood trim, electric sunroof, electric windows,
electric passenger mirror, the original radio/cassette player, rear map
pocket/nets and original first aid kit.
Under
the bonnet, we find the 2.8 litre DOHC M110 series straight-six petrol engine
carried over from the previous W116 series model and is mated here to 4-speed
automatic (a cost option) driving the rear wheels in traditional Mercedes
fashion.
Showing just 78,175 miles the car
looks to be in lovely, unmolested order throughout and was driven some 150 miles
to the sale. The history file includes the V5C revealing 5 former keepers,
handbook, service book showing 12 stamps, plus one hand-written entry, the last
stamp in February 2016 at 75,810 miles, 2 old MOTs, couple of sundry
bills and current MOT valid until November 2022 with two advisories
recorded for wear to propshaft rubber couplings and general play in the steering
system.
A pretty car on offer with lower
mileage in a period colour scheme on offer for sensible money.
