Description
1964 MG 1100 Mk1
Driven to us for the auction;
relatively few left on the road; useable starter classic
One doesn’t
come across these very often. In fact, according to online records, there are
only 104 left on UK roads and this smoke grey one represents the model pretty
well.
The impressive
looking interior has had a few changes since 1964 but is mostly original. A rev
counter has been fitted in place of the ashtray and the standard steering wheel
has been replaced with a an attractive wooden one. The seats and door cards
appear to be in good order with the headlining probably in need of
replacment/restoration.
Mechanically,
it has pancake air filters fitted and a rebuilt unleaded Mini Cooper head under
the bonnet. Driven to us for the auction, being described as being ‘very perky’,
it has also just been put through an MOT for peace of mind and only had two
small advisories, regarding some wear to a tyre and slight play on a wheel
bearing. It should be noted that it does lean a little to one side so some
‘levelling up’ may be needed…
Externally,
the car presents well, although if one was to make it perfect, the bodywork and
paint does need a little attention. There is some crazing to the roof and bonnet
and some very small dents to the body on the front wings and doors, but as can
be seen in the photos, there is not a lot to complain about.
Overall, this
is a rare and honest little car, which is accompanied by a large history
file of old MOTs, receipts and the original drivers handbook.
Documents:
V5C, MOT Jan 2023, 13 old MOT's, Hand Book, Photographs,
