1971 Rover P5B Coupe
No
Reserve
One-family-owned from new; only 49,300 miles; engine
recently started; very sound body; last on the road in 2003; straightforward
project
This Rover P5B Coupe was bought new by
our vendor’s father in February 1971 and has remained in the family ever since,
ownership transferring from father to son in 2001 when it had covered 48,884
miles. The 49,238 miles currently displayed is said to be
correct.
An invoice on file shows that the
bodywork was restored in 1999 which included new inner and outer sills, new
inner rear wings, new boot floor panels, new jacking points plus other localised
repairs as required. There are photos of the work in progress and others showing
how smart the car looked once repaired.
There
are two old MOTs on file, the last of which was issued in 2003 shortly after
which the car was taken off the road and put into storage. Earlier this year the
engine was got running again but the car cannot be driven because there is no
fluid in the gearbox and the brakes will need attention.
As you can see
in the photos, the car appears generally sound and the panels are in decent
shape apart from some localised surface rust here and there. The paintwork is
tired as is the chromework. The interior looks to be in fairly good condition
and should clean up well although it will need new carpets in the
front.
On offer here as a straightforward
project, it shouldn’t take too much to get it roadworthy and the cosmetics could
be attended to when time and funds allow. One-family-owned from new and
unusually low mileage, it is on offer here at no reserve and has the potential
to make a very nice car indeed.
Documents: Old style V5; two old MOTs;
two invoices; photos
