1978 MGB GT
No
Reserve
Later rubber bumper example requiring some
cosmetic improvement; sweet sounding engine and tidy interior
Dating from September 1978 this brightly coloured BGT hails from
the later period of production featuring rubber bumpers and is finished in
Vermillion and sits upon a set of attractive Minilite style ‘Minator’ 14” alloy
wheels.
Inside, we find black leather(ette)
seats piped red and traditional walnut capping to the dash making it a pleasant
place to be. We also find a Webasto
roll-back roof, overdrive on the gear stick top and retro-fit radio/CD with USB
and after-market speakers in the doors.
Showing
08512 miles, which we assume to be 108,512 miles the car’s interior presents
well although the bodywork would no doubt benefit from improvement in the usual
MGB areas, sills, sill ends and wing top seams/scuttle all having suffered the
usual corrosion as pictured – but nothing some time, effort and moderate
expenditure can’t sort out with the huge array of specialist knowledge, parts
and people out there in support of the MG B scene.
The engine started instantly running sweetly and quietly as we
moved the car for these shots and the video. The history file includes only the V5C
showing four former owners, purchase receipt from our vendor’s purchase in 2015
at 04281 miles (104,281) and MOT valid until October 2022 recording just three
advisories for an oil leak, not excessive from the gearbox, corrosion to a
suspension mount and slight play in the kingpin.
Ready to use and improve, its on offer at No Reserve so the highest
bid on the day gets the car.
Documents: V5C: old purchase receipt; MOT
Oct 2022 with 3 advisories
