Description
1972 Jensen Interceptor MKIII
Rust-free
Californian import; straightforward project with all major parts to finish and
convert to RHD if desired
Dating from
1972, this Jensen Interceptor MkIII J-Series has the high compression 383ci V8
rather than the low compression 440ci unit fitted to the later cars to meet more
stringent emissions requirements. Our vendor imported the car from sunny
California in late-2020 with all duties paid when it had already been dismantled
by the previous owner who had owned the car since 2014.
We are told
that the car is at least 90% complete with all parts itemised in sheets on file
and packed in boxes for ease of transport. The rolling shell is in good
rust-free condition, finished in grey primer and with the majority of the
suspension still fixed in place. The steering mechanism and the radiator are
also still in place.
The original
engine is mounted on a frame with wheels for ease of movement and comes complete
with exhaust manifolds, Carter 4-barrel carburettor, gearbox etc. We are told
that it turns over easily and has been running recently with good oil pressure.
All major
components are present along with the vast majority of the fiddly trim bits
including: exterior badges; radiator grille; stainless steel sill finishers;
chrome roof gutters; bumpers and brackets; door windows with regulators and
motors; door locks and handles; side windows with stainless steel frames;
bumpers; VIN plate; ashtrays; petrol filler cap; electrical looms; windscreen
wipers and mechanism; air con system; bonnet struts; carpets; interior boot
trim; keys etc.
The only parts
known to be missing are the front windscreen and the headlining but it is
entirely possible that other minor parts may also prove to be missing as
reassembly gets underway so it is being sold here strictly on a ‘what you see is
what you get’ basis.
The vendor has
also acquired a right-hand drive steering rack and a complete right-hand drive
instrument/dash panel to convert the car over to UK spec if desired, these parts
also being included with the car.
Supplied with
the California Certificate of Title and NOVA documents to prove that all duties
have been paid, this Interceptor is rock solid structurally and should keep
someone gainfully amused as they piece it back together over the coming months.
Pull your finger out and it could be back on the road for the
summer…
