Description
1950 Land Rover Series 1 80"
Earlier Series 1
direct from many years in storage; starts, runs and drives in low-ratio; later
petrol engine fitted; Heritage Certificate
Supplied new to W Holloway & Sons Limited of Worcester, this
1950 Series 1 Land Rover 80” maintains its original colour scheme and was a
Home Market (UK) model fitted originally with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine.
The registration EFK 215 which it still wears was first issued in
Worcester.
With our vendor for the last six
years, the truck has remained mostly unused in storage during this time
seeing very limited use on initial purchase.
In a
very much “as removed from the barn” state, the Series 1 does start, stop and
run, but is stuck in low-ratio meaning purposeful forward motion is relatively
limited until this is addressed.
Under the bonnet, the original 1.6 litre engine looks to have been
replaced by a later petrol engine, which the vendor believes to be
2.0-litre.
Requiring a degree of
recommissioning by a new enthusiast owner, these early Series trucks have a
huge and devoted following and although not the earliest, its still an early and
largely (bar the engine change) unadulterated example.
The history file includes the V5C, Heritage Certificate issued in
November 2016, Land Rover Series 1 Club dating certificate and duplicate buff
log book issued by East Suffolk County Council to the then owner, Capel Motor
Works stamped October 1959.
