Rare to find 2.7 V6 manual Saloon that's showing just 39,990 miles; in storage for the last 10 years; starts runs and drives; for light re-commissioning

Supplied new in January 1996 this R17 series (MY91 face-lift) example of the Rover 827i comes to us from 10 years in storage.  The car does start, run and drive but we would recommend, given its time off the road, to give it a thorough check-over, recommission and MOT before using it on the road to ensure its safe and legal.

Finished in Blue and sitting on a set of 17” five-spoke after market alloy wheels, the car still has a very 90’s presence and look about it. Under the bonnet, we find the 2.7 litre Honda-built 24valve C27A V6 engine which develops 168bhp and drives the front wheels via five-speed manual transmission.

Showing just 39,975 miles but having been in storage for some time, the interior is somewhat dirty and some surface corrosion is evident to some body trim (see images). There are some corrosion blisters to the sills and wheel arch lips as pictured so there is scope for improvement, but nothing we could see that looks too scary. Given the rarity and mileage, we think this is a worthwhile project.

Inside, we find beige cloth, wood trim, electric front windows, mirrors, glass sunroof and original Rover radio/cassette player. There looks to be some distortion to the dash top above the binnacle which might be sun/heat related.

The history file includes the V5C recording just three former keepers to the current of 15 years, two old style V5C’s, the owner’s handbook, SORN notices, purchase invoice from June 2007 at 33,000 miles and seven old MOTs and some technical information print-outs. The last MOT expired in January 2015 and recorded 4 advisories for corrosion to the front and rear suspension mounting points at 39,950 miles.

Ideal to recommission and put back on the road, these 800 series sporting saloons are rare things to see nowadays (although we have three on offer in this sale!) and worthy of a look, particuarly at No Reserve.
