1992 Volkswagen Transporter Campervan

Desirable 2.0 petrol 2-berth camper with grill, fridge and sink; useful awning; recent £2121 spend on service and MOT work

Supplied new in September 1992, this VW Caravelle Short-wheel base 'Kompact' Camper is affectionately known as ‘Blossom’ by our vendor and is finished in ‘grey/white’ according to the Vehicle data card within the service book and was supplied new by Simpsons VW Audi dealers of Great Yarmouth.

Under the bonnet, we find, the somewhat rare to see 2.0 litre petrol AAC engine which develops 83bhp and 159NM of torque driving the front wheels via five-speed manual transmission, without power steering.

Showing 134,650 miles the van looks to be in good order with but a few marks commensurate with its age, usage type and mileage.  Inside, we find comfortable armchair style front seats and sleeping space for two with useful high-top providing extra height for moving around when stationary, lots of cupboard space and useful roll out awning from the side.  We also note fitment of a sink and cooker.

The history file for Blossom, includes the V5C recording five former keepers, the owner’s manuals and service booklet revealing three stamps including the PDI, the last in 1995 at 16,496 miles plus three stamps for recall campaigns. In addition, we find a selection of invoices for parts and maintenance including a recent £2,121 spend in February 2021 on recommissioning works such as new exhaust sections, tyre, belt, radiator, brake hoses, engine hydrogen carbon clean, brake shoes drums and cylinders plus discs and pads and new battery.

Another bill dated July 2020 is present for a service including replacement throttle and temperature sensors plus we find five old MOT certificates along with the current, valid until July 2022 recording no advisories but showing less than 3,000 miles covered in the past four years.

Ready to be enjoyed, Blossom would no doubt reward the traveller in this new era of the Staycation amply and looks good value at the estimate suggested.
