1987 Burlington Beretta
No
Reserve
Looks like a straight-forward project after 12 years
of inactivity in our vendor's barn; 1400cc engine
Dating from 1987, this unusual Burlington Berretta kit car has been
hiding in our vendor’s barn for a number of years and has not run for some
time. Finished in blue it has a
couple of mis-matched seats, partial roof frame and side screens in the car but
no apparent fixings.
Under the bonnet, we find
a 1.4 litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine and twin carbs driving the rear
wheels via manual transmission. It looks to us like a Spitfire/Herald engine,
upon which some Burlingtons were based and it turns freely and was running when
the vendor put the car away into storage.
Evidently requiring some restoration and recommissioning it could
make an interesting project ahead of the summer.
The history file includes solely the V5C which records the car as a
Burlington showing just two previous keepers to the current (our vendor) of 12
years. The last MOT expired in September 2011 at which no advisories were
recorded, and the mileage was recorded at 13,561 miles which is what the
odometer currently also shows and has shown for the past few MOTs between
2007-2010.
